The civil court is a forum which resolves disputes civil in nature thereby implying noncriminal as per law. By this we can comprehend that different procedures are recommended and stated by the government to resolve criminal and civil disputes .For the civil cases that is cases pertaining to property matters, contracts, agreements, family disputes, taxation, patent law, etc the civil procedure code is the prescribed statute which governs civil matters. The other statutes relevant to civil matters are limitation act, registration act, specific relief act, contract act etc
The function of civil law is to provide a legal remedy to civil disputes. In most of the civil disputes well settled principle of the Code of Civil Procedure are applicable unless there is any specific statutory provision for any specific kind of dispute. The procedures prescribed under the Code of Civil Procedure are followed in most of the civil litigation in India except the state of Jammu Kashmir.
